About
About Actually Tested AI
Hi. I'm Jamie.
Not a developer. Not a tech journalist.
Just someone who got genuinely obsessed with AI tools
a couple of years ago and couldn't stop testing them.
It started the way it probably started for a lot of people —
ChatGPT launched, everyone lost their minds,
and I wanted to know if it was actually useful
or just impressive for five minutes.
Turns out: both. But it depends entirely on how you use it.
What This Blog Is
Actually Tested AI is exactly what it sounds like.
I test AI tools in real situations — not demo videos,
not sponsored walkthroughs — and write about
what actually happened.
Sometimes the results are great.
Sometimes they're disappointing.
Always honest.
I cover tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Notion AI,
Grammarly, and whatever else shows up in my feed
looking promising. I compare them, break them,
find the weird tricks that aren't in any tutorial,
and tell you whether they're worth your time.
What You Won't Find Here
Hype. Affiliate-driven "best AI tools" lists
where everything gets a 9.5 out of 10.
Posts written by people who watched a YouTube video
and called it research.
If something doesn't work as advertised, I say so.
A Note on Expertise
I'm not a software engineer or an AI researcher.
I'm a writer who uses these tools daily and pays
close attention to what works. Nothing on this blog
is professional technical advice — it's one person's
real experience, shared as clearly as possible.
If you've ever Googled "does [AI tool] actually work"
and gotten a useless answer — this blog exists for you.
Thanks for being here.
— Jamie
